Cola BBQ'd Ribs

Since I've been on a bit of a slow cooker kick lately, here's yet one more.  This recipe is from "The Best of Betty Crocker."  The girls in my family are all quite passionate about food and cooking.  We tend to pass recipes around so much that we all end up making the same meals.  I'm the fourth girl to make this one.  Although it's still in the slow cooker at my house, I can vouch that this is a good recipe!  This was Sunday dinner at my mom's place last weekend...and it was fabulous!
Also, on the upside, my kids love to eat meat off the bone!  Give them any meat that is still attached to the bone and they are sure to lick it clean.

3 1/2 lb. ribs
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 cup cola
BBQ sauce

RUB ribs with sugar, pepper and garlic salt.
POUR cola into bottom of the slow cooker and add the seasoned ribs.
COOK for 8 hours on LOW.
POUR out the liquid and add BBQ sauce.
COOK one hour longer.

Serve with rice and veggie.

Crockpot Pulled Pork

I'm a huge fan of pulled pork so I went on the hunt for a recipe. This recipe was fantastic!

Pulled Pork Crockpot Recipe

1/2 Cup Ketchup
1/3 Cup Worcestershire
1/3 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tablespoon Ground Mustard
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Paprika
1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon Liquid Smoke
Dash Red Chili Pepper Flakes
Pinch Salt and Pepper
1 Medium Sweet Onion, Chopped
3 Pounds Pork Shoulder, Trimmed of Fat.

Combine all the ingredients except the onion and pork in a slow cooker. Place onions and pork in the slow cooker and coat all sides of the roast. Roast on "low" for 8-10 hours. Once done, remove pork from the slow cooker and shred with two forks. Put shredded meat back into the crock pot and mix together.

Serve with pork and coleslaw on kaiser buns...enjoy!

Spoiled Baby Back Ribs

This is one of my favorite recipes. We don't have them often as baby back ribs aren't usually in my budget when I go grocery shopping but it's always a favorite for company or special occaisions. This year we were stuck at home for New Years Eve so my parents came and spent New Years Day with us. Normally I would BBQ these ribs but I did follow the recipe and did them under the broiler and they were just as good. I absolutely love this BBQ sauce. I generally double the recipe so that we have extra sauce for dipping the ribs in. Great served with baked potatoes and a grilled veggie.

Spoiled Baby Back Ribs

3 lbs. baby back ribs, cut into serving size peices
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
3 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. liquid smoke

Directions:

1. Place ribs in a large pot and cover with water. Bring the water to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to medium and simmer until tender, about 1 hour. In the meanwhile, Stir ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt & liquid smoke in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat; reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for approximately 30 minutes or until sauce has thickened.
2. Preheat oven's broiler and place rack 6 inches from heat source. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
3. Drain ribs and place meaty side up on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the ribs with half the BBQ sauce. Broil in the preheated oven until sauce becomes sticky and lightly browned. Turn the ribs over and brush with the remaining sauce. Continue to broil under sauce becomes sticky, about 7 minutes.
